I have a recording and writing space called Otter House Studios. For the last several years it was located in a warehouse on the Seattle waterfront. These days it's in Anacortes, & I'm loving having it based back in my small hometown. It's main use is for working on my own music albums and TV compositions, but I also record, mix and master a handful of other peoples projects there throughout the year. I recently recorded the amazing violinist and singer/songwriter Jenny Scheinman's new solo record there, featuring Bill Frisell and Danny Barnes on various instruments.

Why "Otter House"? Way back when I was first making a go of playing music full time, I was looking for a cheap place to call home. An old family friend got ahold of me and said "I've got a small shack right on a rocky beach, looking out due West, on Fidalgo Island. You could stay in it, but it's been deemed uninhabitable". I told him it sounded perfect, and moved into it straight away, with the waves crashing literally right at my doorstep. There was a family of otters "squatting" in the crawl space underneath when I first moved in. After boarding up their point of entry, they would often returned to investigate whether or not I might reconsider their cute yet fishy residency. So Otter House Studios was born. A lot of music was made there, a lot of sunsets watched with friends and family. An open bottle of wine and a wood fire burning, otters peering into their lost castle, and silhouetted dorsal fins gently breaking the surface of the water in our back yard..... The shack may be long gone, but that remains the musical space I carry around with me.

If you are interested in working with me on your record, get ahold of me and tell me a bit about it. I do not take on all projects that come my way, I simply don't have enough time. But based on my schedule, and if I think it's a good fit, I really love getting involved.
